Spammed by a former apprentice

Every year there seems to be at least one former apprentice of the "Don's" that just won't fade back into obscurity. Probably the most famously ridiculous one was Amarosa who just couldn't accept that she was not the greatest thing since sliced bread. For a while she had a website up where you could 'talk' to her for $6.95 a minute. Now there is another former apprentice trying to cash in on their brief brush with fame. Jennifer Wallen has some kind of deal cooking. Jennifer, here's a hint. If you want to appear more legitimate, don't use the same tactics as Nigerians do to collect money. I've been spammed by at least a dozen different email addresses with this message:

Hi! I'm Jennifer Wallen, a local real estate broker and former contestant on Donald Trump's hit television show, "The Apprentice"-- season 4. I have discovered an incredible money-making opportunity so powerful, that it has enabled myself and my husband to retire from our real estate careers! If you're like me, the downturn in the real estate market has affected you financially and you are probably looking for something else to supplement or even replace your income. This life-changing opportunity will do just that.

For more information, call the toll-free number below. We are holding local meetings weekly to explain all of the details. Just leave your contact information and I, or one of my partners, will call you back with the time and location of our next meeting. Don't delay as seating is by reservation only and it tends to fill up quickly... you won't be sorry!
Insane Income Please Call 1 - 888-99B-RICH

That's right, since tune in on weekly meetings and your income worries are over! I've always found that the real money is in holding making money seminars. There is an unsubscribe button included in the email from Insane Income LLC, which I have already used a week ago. What really steams me is that you shouldn't have to go through this crap when your email address has been harvested from your site. If there is anyone out there that has signed up, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts about it. Their marketing has put a bad taste in my mouth.

Guest blogging

Owning a blog will inevitably lead you to meeting new people. I started this blog in late 2004 as kind of a hobby (as you can see by my first posts). Blogging had just taken off to the main stream audience. Through a social networking site I "met" Mary McKnight of rsspieces.com. She firmly believes in the power of the blog and her blog has a fairly large following. Mostly it concerns realtors and what they can accomplish by blogging.

Well, one thing led to another and I was offered a guest spot on rsspieces. Guest blogging is a great way to attract visitors to your own site from others. Its a win-win. The blog owner gets new, free original content in a point of view different from their own and you get exposure from a different venue.

Next week I'm posting the final post in the series the future of websites. Please stop by and take a read.

Don't discount directories

As the internet grows older, the way people use it is constantly changing. Back when the 'net was young, internet directories held huge sway. The granddaddy of them all is the DMOZ directory, which is still around. Having a list in DMOZ used to be crucial for a site. Now, social networking sites are all the rage. Sites like, Digg, Reddit, myspace are all being used by consumers to find information. So has the day of the directory finally gone? I don't think so.

Newer directories are changing with the times. They are now designed as search engine friendly, making it easier for search engines to crawl and index them. Directory pages are showing up in search results. Many directories are also branching out, including information along with links to other sites. A good example is friskall.com. It is search engine friendly, easy to navigate and also includes articles as well as links to other sites. Inclusion to friskall isn't guaranteed, all submissions are human approved to ensure only quality sites are listed.

Having listings in certain directories can certainly help drive traffic to your site. As web 2.0 evolves, I think we'll see greater importance placed on directory listings.

More pages

Following the guidelines set by Search engines, I've split our lvrealty sitemap into two sitemap pages, the purpose trying to keep each page to under 100 links. At the rate I'm going, I should need a third page within another two months. I'll probably change the referrals page next, since its hasn't been changed in years. So many projects, so little time....

New Sitemap

Our site has gotten so big that I've decided to create a secondary sitemap. Per the google TOS, your sitemap should have less than 100 links. Our primary one is fast approaching that so I broke it up into two pages.

Las Vegas Press Release

I just wrote another press release and sent it out over prweb. My first one was for a Henderson home on the golf course. It worked fairly well, so I decided to write one about Las Vegas Real Estate . So far, it has been picked up by punjab.com and a few other sites. By the end of the month it should be on several hundred websites. There are tons of press release website out there now (kind of like blog sites!) offering free to paid inclusion for your press release. Many are now being area specific, targeting a certain country, state or other region with the option of going international. Here is the press release for Las Vegas Real Estate Investing that I wrote on the 11th. For a complete list of press release sites, try the wow directory.
