Residences at Red Rock

It seems that everyone still wants to get into the Las Vegas high rise market. With the completion of Red Rock station, plans for high rise condo-hotel units are going forward. The Residences at Red Rock will be the first condo-hotel venture for Station Casinos. The units will be high end, with the standard luxury amenities that one would expect in such a property. Residents will be near several golf courses, dining, shopping and entertainment. Recent cancellations of other high rise projects hasn't seemed to slow down the market. No word yet when the Red Rock condos will be completed, but its a pretty sure bet that they will be.

High Rise construction

Despite the cancellation of several projects this year, more towers are going up. Last week I went to several of the current projects to get updated information. Next week, my wife Jacqulyn is going to be CNBC talking about the Las vegas high rise market. The interview took place earlier this week and will air on 22nd at 4 pm. Here are some construction pictures of Newport Lofts, Allure, Panorama Towers, Trump Tower, Sky Las Vegas and Turnberry Towers:

These pictures were taken on May 15th. Soho Lofts is nearly finished according to some of the construction crew there. They are just finishing up the interiors. Tower 4 of Turnberry Place is also nearly completed.

Condo conversions are still going strong. Las Vegas is no longer has a monopoly on them. Reno is also joining the growing condo conversion market with The Resort of Tanamera. The project features all of the high end amenities you'd expect in a Las Vegas project at a fraction of the cost. Units are priced starting in the $200,000's. I'm sure as these projects gain popularity that other areas of the country will follow suit.

Mortgages and mortgage note buying

I was surfing the net and kept coming across different mortgage sites. It seems that there are literally millions of mortgage or mortgage note buying sites. The buying of mortgages has been around a long time but because the housing market has been heating up, so the buying of mortgages. I did find several outstanding sites and decided to start a list here:

A Mortgage note Buyer Nationwide buyer of privately held real estate mortgage notes, deed of trusts, land contracts and contracts for deed in the residential, commercial and land markets. Get information and a free quote on the market value of your real estate note.

If you have a site that you think belongs here, please email me.

Coincidentally, my friend Glenn just wrote an article about Mortgage fraud. Very interesting stuff. It just demonstrates why its important to choose a reputable lender and why the laws need to be updated.

G Sting Verdicts

Earlier today the verdicts were handed down in Operation G STING. Former county commissioners Lance Malone and Mary Kincaid-Chauncey were both facing multiple counts of extortion, wire fraud and conspiracy. Lance Malone was convicted on 17 of the 19 counts against him. Mary Kincaird-Chauncey was convicted on 13 of the 14 counts against her. I'll be updating when sentencing is handed down.

In related news, the investigation into county recorder Francis Deanne is ongoing.

Operation G Sting winding down

Closing arguements are winding down for Operation G sting. Both sides are optimistic on winning the case. Probably the biggest factor in the case were the FBI wiretaps documenting conversations among the defendants. The trial should finally come to a close sometime next week.
