Clark County Animal Advisory Committee

On May 1, 2007 at 6:30 P.M. the Clark County Animal Advisory Committee has scheduled a public meeting. One of the items on the agenda is to require that any dog or cat sold, traded, gifted, etc by any person or business must be spayed or neutered prior to the transfer, unless that person or company has a current Dog or Cat Fancier license. It also requires that the cat or dog be microchipped as well. This would go a long way to stopping the constant breeding of cats and dogs in Clark County as well as making local Pet Stores more responsible. I strongly urge everyone to attend or if you can't personally attend the meeting, write a letter to the board of County Commissioners in support of Title 10.24.030.

The meeting will be at the Sunset park administration building:

2601 E Sunset Road, Admin Conference Room
Las Vegas, NV 89120

Google map if you are driving up Sunset, take the first left into Sunset park at the light. Follow the road down, you'll see the building on the left hand side.

Guest blogging

Owning a blog will inevitably lead you to meeting new people. I started this blog in late 2004 as kind of a hobby (as you can see by my first posts). Blogging had just taken off to the main stream audience. Through a social networking site I "met" Mary McKnight of rsspieces.com. She firmly believes in the power of the blog and her blog has a fairly large following. Mostly it concerns realtors and what they can accomplish by blogging.

Well, one thing led to another and I was offered a guest spot on rsspieces. Guest blogging is a great way to attract visitors to your own site from others. Its a win-win. The blog owner gets new, free original content in a point of view different from their own and you get exposure from a different venue.

Next week I'm posting the final post in the series the future of websites. Please stop by and take a read.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone has a happy Easter Sunday. This weekend my brother-inlaw and his family flew into to town for a few days. We ended up eating at the Luxor buffet. WOW! If you haven't been yet, its definitely worth checking out. The food was fantastic and the table service was great. Their flight leaves tomorrow at 7 so we'll probably check out some other strip hotels with kid friendly stuff. Yesterday they went to the bodies exhibit at the Tropicana after seeing Dirk Arthur. His magic show was very, very good and family friendly.

Verge lofts

In the continued revitalization of downtown Las Vegas spear headed by Mayor Goodman, another project throws its hat in the Las Vegas lofts ring. Verge is a mixed use project located in the downtown area at Main Street and Bonanza. As with projects of this type, the community doesn't offer any out of the ordinary amenities, but does stand out in its construction. Verge lofts will be a LEED certified building, making it one of the few green residential buildings in Nevada (the only other Las Vegas green project is CityCenter). Residents can expect to enjoy significant savings in utlities as a result.

Currently the developer is only offering "typical" verisions of the floorplans that will be available. Available loft floor plans include studio, penthouse and one to three bedroom lofts. Most plans are single story but there will also be two story plans available as well.

For more information about Verge, call 702-493-8033.

The Redundant Department of Redundancy

Today my wife was trying to get a prescription filled at Costco. According to the pharmacist, the prescription needed to be re-authorized by her doctor, despite the fact the it was originally prescribed with refills and it had only been filled once. Rather than argue, she calls her doctor's office...and is transferred to their answering service.....only to get the answering services' voice mail. Sometimes, you just have to love technology.
